Overview

A week based in Kyoto. Temples, lanes, and evenings that are quieter once the day groups leave. One nearby town is included. Tokyo is an optional bookend, not part of this itinerary.

Travel light and trust the trains. A prepaid IC card and a small day bag will do more than a packed suitcase. We go early or late to Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama so you can walk without a wall of umbrellas.

Yes. Japan hotel singles are standard. The supplement is usually modest compared with Europe.

Yen. Cards work in hotels and many restaurants. Convenience stores take IC cards and cash.

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

Book Tokyo nights separately if you fly into Narita or Haneda. This tour starts and ends in Kyoto.
