Mountain mornings in Hallstatt
Arrive the night before and walk the lake before the day coaches.
Hallstatt is quiet at 7am and busy by 11. Stay overnight. Walk the shore while the fog is still on the water. The village is a real place before the first group photo.
Take the ferry or the short funicular if you want height. You do not need every viewpoint. One terrace and a coffee is enough. Leave before the afternoon crush if you are continuing to Salzburg or Vienna.
