Why shoulder season is the better safari

Fewer vehicles, greener tracks, and guides who still have time to stop.

Peak dry season packs the waterholes. Shoulder weeks can still show game, with longer grass and fewer bumpers in the photo. Ask the camp which months they prefer for the animals you care about, not the brochure month.

Roads can be slower after rain. That is the point. You spend more time looking and less time queueing. Pack a light waterproof and expect a muddy step on the vehicle.

A four-day safari is enough if the camp is inside the reserve. Do not add a fifth lodge just to say you did two parks.
