Share your plan, keep a paper backup, and book the first night in advance.
Solo travel is quieter, not harder. Book the first night so you are not choosing a hostel at midnight. Tell one person at home the hotel name and the next city. Check in once a day with a short message.
Carry a copy of your passport and a card that still works if the phone dies. Eat lunch in busy places. Walk with purpose after dark even if you are only looking for ice cream.
Join a day tour when you want company. Leave the rest of the week open. The best solo trips have one fixed start and a lot of unscheduled mornings.
